The Faculty of Automation and Computers at Politehnica University of Timișoara organizes the Student Scientific Communication Session – SCSS AC, which takes place annually between May and June. The session is intended for undergraduate and master’s students in the faculty’s fields of study. This event also supports master’s students by providing a framework for presenting a paper on their dissertation topic, in accordance with Article 24 of the Regulation on the Organization and Conduct of Bachelor’s/Diploma and Dissertation Exams at Politehnica University of Timișoara (HS No. 30/21.03.2024), for research master’s programs within the Faculty of Automation and Computers.
Event Structure
The event is divided into two sections:
- AIA (Automation and Applied Informatics) – Section coordinator: Associate Professor Dr. Eng. Iosif SZEIDERT
- CTI (Computers and Information Technology) – Section coordinator: Lecturer Dr. Eng. Cristina STÂNGACIU
2025 SCSS Program:
- June 6-10, 2025, 16:00 – Registration via the Virtual Campus (CV) and submission of articles
- June 11, 2025 – Announcement of accepted articles and presentation schedule on CV
- June 11, 2025 – Uploading the article presentation on CV
- June 12-13, 2025 – Article presentations before the evaluation committee
- June 16, 2025 – Announcement of final results
Students enrolled in English-taught programs must write and present their papers in English. Students in Romanian-taught programs may choose to write and present in either Romanian or English.
To register, second-year master’s students at the Faculty of Automation and Computers must upload their papers within the SCSS course on CV. Students from other years may also participate by writing articles describing projects they have worked on during the current academic year. They must request enrollment in the SCSS course on the Virtual Campus and follow the same registration process as second-year master’s students.
Article Submission Requirements
To be accepted for presentation, submitted articles must meet the following formatting and content requirements:
- Follow the IEEE scientific article format.
- Have a clear structure, including: Introduction, Literature Review, Theoretical and Methodological Aspects, Experimental Results, and Conclusions.
- Include relevant and up-to-date references, preferably from Google Scholar.
- Explicitly mention the contributions of the project and paper in the introduction (e.g., scientific contributions, innovations, optimizations, implementations, etc.).
SCSS-AC Procedure
- Papers must be written in IEEE conference article format (4-6 pages).
- Submissions are valid only with the approval of a scientific advisor.
- Papers will be reviewed by a committee of 3-5 faculty members from the Faculty of Automation and Computers.
- There will be no revision or rebuttal stage.
- Each paper will have 10 minutes for an oral presentation, followed by 5 minutes for questions from the committee.
- If a scientific article related to the dissertation has already been published or accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal or conference, it is considered equivalent to successfully publishing a paper at SCSS.
